Navigation Project

In this project, we have to organize the collected resources (our blog) into a navigable design app.
All the 11 topics as covered in the semester and related research and observation of the same has to be put in the app.
In this the target audience has to be decided and the purpose of the app even needs to be decided to make the navigation through the app appropriate.

For the app, I chose it to be named as Elements of Design. The basic idea behind this app is to make the concept of all the elements understandable to a student. The purpose of this app is to help a design student entering the school understand the concepts of design and different elements of the design. Along with the definition and examples, the student also has the additional benefit of having a project related to each element which they can practice.
All the elements are joined through lines these lines provide the navigation through the whole app. Each line has a separate color and weight which is constant throughout the app and is related to a single element.

The first half of the app is dedicated to the definitions and examples for the elements and the second half is for "projects to do". The name of the element and the project is connected through lines. Each element has a small tab near them which will direct the student to the project related to that.
In hierarchy terms major importance has been given to the name of the elements. The progression of tints and shades of the same color has been used to create a depth in the design. The middle-ground has been utilized for the definitions. Rest of the information has been put on the background.
The whole design of the app is bright and inviting due to colors and feature of jumping from one topic to the other related topic. the colors make the app very interesting. Also there is a flow of information from one topic to other.
For navigation the primary role is being played by Lines. Also the buttons and call outs help in linking the students to web world for more and detailed information.

Charles and Ray Eames

American designers Charles and Ray Eames made major contributions to modern architecture and furniture, as well as graphic design, fine art, and even film. They are a great team that focused their passion, curiosity, and boundless enthusiasm to create a unique look of design in furniture.

The Eames aimed to use new materials in order to make everyday objects high quality that were both functional and could be mass produced within a reasonable budget.

The Earmes's believed that they could create functional art that had expression and design which any and everyone could enjoy.

Sister Corita Kent

Sister Corita Kent claimed that she was simply a printmaker.
Sister Corita Kent is famous Internationally due to her spiritual art and her commitment to social justice. Her designs speaks her expression towards society and government. She freely expressed all the things not by speech but by designs. She also ran and Art department at Heart College until 1968 and afterwards shifted to Boston, Back Bay.

She loved the idea that she could make original artwork for those who couldn't afford expense art. Everyday people could purchase them and enjoy them - the goal being to "give people a lift...more fun out of life." She created all kinds of prints - serigraphs, cards, posters, murals, billboards. Selling them at churches, galleries, corporations and more. This way her work was available to many people.

For her all the designs the freely used color and shapes speaks the voice of freedom. She used exuberant splashes of color to make her work introspective. In the 1960s her work incorporated more abstract colors, text, and shapes. Her work evolved to using words as imagery. This use of words as imagery become popular in Corita's work because of her interest in the urban environment of the '60s and its use of signage.

Filigree

Filigree is the delicate process of jewelry making with tine beads and strings of metal, generally gold and silver. They are soldered together or to the surface of an object of the same metal and arranged in artistic motifs.

Its origins are in Asian and European countries.

The art may be said to consist in curling, twisting and plaiting fine pliable threads of metal, and uniting them at their points of contact with each other, and with the ground.

Filigree jewelry design, and its twisting and soldering techniques, have an application in other metal-work such as wrought iron hanging wall brackets and silertoned doors.

Filigree is an art which is very famous in India. It is one of the most widely used form of jewelry making in India. Especially for wedding jewelry it is very widely used.
Apart from jewelry, it is also used for making decorative and ornamented boxes used for gifting purpose.

Indian Paneer Recipes...By Sanjeev Kapoor

Cooking has always made my day. Even on my worst days if i cook something it gives me immense pleasure.
Even though I am not a great cook... But i love whatever I cook even if it is just an experiment.
The first time I cooked, it was not at all god but still my parents ate that!

I have been following the cooking site of Sanjeev Kapoor. He is one of the best Chef of Indian Cuisine and also author of numerous best selling cook books.
For this reading post I decided to go ahead and write about my love for cooking!

One of the best cuisines in India is Punjabi food, and that too with main ingredient as Paneer(a form on Curd cheese with origins in South Asia). These dishes are mainly extremely spicy. You will be surprised with the variety of different dishes that can be prepared with this Paneer.

I might sound like a lover of paneer, but the truth is that paneer is definitely tasty!!

The variety of dishes varies from starters, to main course to snacks.

Well in this blog post I can only show the images of those dishes... for recipes please go to http://www.sanjeevkapoor.com/paneer-recipes.aspx
